Volunteering

Scat Van

drivers and escorts provide a crucial service for senior and disabled citizens of Cayuga County. They provide transportation to necessary appointments such as shopping, hairdressers, barbers, visiting friends and eating meals out. Vans operate out of Auburn, Union Springs, Moravia, Weedsport, and Cato. People older than 60 or those younger with a disability that prevents them from using public transportation may use this affordable service. To take advantage of the SCAT Van service or for more information on becoming a SCAT Van volunteer, please call 253-0996.

Mercy Rehab

is in need of volunteers. They need teens that enjoy working with the elderly to volunteer for some evenings and weekends. This will give the teens an opportunity to complete their community service hours for school. They also need adults who would be interested in visiting the residents, and helping with activities. If you are interested, please call Marge Brooks, Director of Volunteers at 253-0341 ext. 270 for an interview and placement.

Matthew House

provides a home for people with terminal illness. They provide a loving place where they support the residents and their loved ones at this difficult time. Located on Metcalf Drive, Matthew House is always in need of volunteers. They provide total support and training for the volunteers who care for the house and the residents. Please call Wendy Young at 252-2052 if you are interested in volunteering.
